A 1920s rare large rectangular vintage Rolex watch, with superb Observatory Quality movement!

A 1928, 9ct gold large rectangular vintage Rolex watch. The case measures 26 x 42 mm (including lugs) with 20mm lug size. The case is signed Rolex, RWCLtd. (Rolex Watch Company Limited) hallmarked Glasgow 1928 and numbered to the back, with personal engraving ‘J.A.F. Fisher, R.N.’.  The manual wind, Observatory Quality movement is signed Rolex, Swiss Made, with 18 Rubies and numbered. The champagne dial has black exploding Arabic numerals, with subsidiary seconds dial. The dial is signed Rolex above the centre, with Observatory below.

Lieutenant Commander J.A.F. Fisher served as a Midshipman in the Far East and the 1945 Naval List shows him onboard HMS Suffolk.
