An extremely rare, early Rolex Oyster watch from 1926, pre-patents and now 100 years old!

A 1926, extremely rare, early 9ct rose gold octagonal vintage Rolex Oyster wristwatch, retailed by Asprey. The case measures 32 x 34 mm with 16mm lug size and an Oyster Patent crown. The case is signed RWCLtd., (Rolex Watch Company), Patent Applied For and hallmarked Glasgow 1926, numbered. The manual wind movement is signed Rolex Prima, Swiss Made, Timed 6 positions For All Climates with 15 Jewels,. The guilloche (silvered, engine-turned) dial has black Arabic numerals, with subsidiary seconds dial and fine blued steel ‘Breguet’ hands. The dial is signed Asprey in a cartouche above the centre, with Rolex Oyster above the seconds dial.

This stunning Rolex Oyster watch is hallmarked 1926 and the case marked with only ‘Patent Applied For #114948’, in 1927 the Great Britain Patent was granted and in subsequent Rolex Oyster watches there are Swiss and British Patents marked, together with World’s Records.
