1930s 9ct gold vintage Submarine watch

A rare early 9ct gold cushion vintage ‘Submarine’ watch. The case, with a knurled bezel, measures 30 x 30 mm. The case is signed “Submarine” London Made Pat: 358370 and hallmarked London 1931 and marked EH (believed to be Edward Hickman). The Swiss movement has 15 jewels. The champagne dial has gold raised Arabic numerals with gold hands and a subsidiary seconds dial. The dial is signed Page Keen & Page, Plymouth above the centre with Submarine above the seconds.

This is an early example of the first waterproof watch, very similar in design to the Rolex Oyster watch, which was first produced in 1927. A very rare and sought after watch!
