A stunning gold rectangular wristwatch from the 1920s, retailed by Mappin!

A 1924, 9ct gold rectangular vintage Mappin watch. The case measures 26 x 34 mm (excluding lugs) and has 18mm lugs. The case is hallmarked Glasgow 1924, signed AGR (Arthur George Rendell of Clerkenwell Road, London, importers of Swiss watches from 1907) and numbered to the back. The manual wind movement is Swiss Made, with 17 jewels. The champagne dial, with engine turned decoration to the centre, has black fancy Arabic ‘exploding’ numerals, with a subsidiary seconds dial, and fine blued steel ‘cathedrales’ hands. The dial is signed Mappin above the centre.
