A classic 1920s vintage Longines wristwatch in 18ct gold!

A 1924, 18ct gold round vintage Longines watch. The case measures 34mm in diameter, with hinged 14mm lugs. The case is signed AB, (Arthur Baume, director of Longines UK), hallmarked London 1924 and numbered, with a hinged protective movement cover. The manual wind, calibre 13.34 movement is signed Longines, Swiss Made, with 16 jewels and numbered. The white enamel dial (with a small hairline crack below the signature) has black Arabic numerals, subsidiary seconds, with fine blued steel ‘squelettes’ hands. The dial is signed Longines above the centre.

Longines Calibre 13.34

First introduced in 1910, the Longines 13.34 savonnette movement was used in many wristwatches during WW1. The number 13 denotes a 13 ligne movement, with 34 after the decimal point identifiying the savonnette layout. Not all movement are signed Longines but are signed ‘B & Co.’ , Baume & Co. who were the Longines agent in the UK. The calibre number 13.34 is stamped at the top of the bottom plate and is visible next to the escape wheel. There were three variations of the calibre 13.34, with the jewel count between 15 and 18.
