A rare, stunning 1940s, stainless steel square wristwatch from Rolex, reference 4572!

A 1946, stainless steel square vintage Rolex Precision watch. The case measures 28 x 37 mm (including lugs), with 18mm lugs and is numbered with reference 4572 to the back. The case is signed Rolex Geneve Swiss, Acier Inoxydable to the inside. The manual wind movement is signed Rolex Precision, Swiss Made with 17 Rubis and Patented Superbalance*. The champagne dial has fancy black Arabic numerals with subsidiary seconds and fine blued steel hands. The dial is signed Rolex, with a coronet above the centre.

*The movement incorporates the Rolex ‘Superbalance’, first patented in 1935 under Swiss Patent number 188077. The ‘Superbalance’ was designed by Rolex to be more streamlined than the traditional compensation balances and was also heavier to help improve accuracy.
