1940s steel rectangular vintage Jaeger LeCoultre Uniplan watch

A stainless steel rectangular vintage Jaeger LeCoultre Uniplan watch. The case measures 21.5 x 37.5 mm (including lugs). The case is signed Acier Staybrite to the back and numbered. The fine quality, calibre 413, manual wind movement is signed LeCoultre Co., with 17 jewels, unadjusted and numbered . The black dial has gold baton hour indicators, with an Arabic twelve, subsidiary seconds dial and fine gilt hands. The dial is signed Jaeger LeCoultre above the centre.

 

The LeCoultre family began watchmaking in 1833 and opened the first watch manufactory in 1866 in the Vallee de Joux, LeCoultre & Cie.. In 1903 Jaques-David LeCoultre and Edmond Jaeger (a French jeweller) began working together to produce the thinnest watch movements in the world. In 1937 the company was officially renamed Jaeger-LeCoultre.
