Hillary’s watch is now in the Beyer Watch and Clock Museum in Zürich, apparently returned to Rolex after the descent for testing and later presented to Mr. Beyer for his museum.

The ‘Explorer’ was first produced by Rolex in 1953 following the expedition, with ‘Explorer’ added to black dials along with the 3-6-9 numerals. It is has become one of the most sought after Rolex watch designs.
